After a hike due to a Petrobras readjustment, gasoline and diesel prices fall, says ANP

Gasoline and diesel showed lower prices at gas stations this week. The information is from the price bulletin of the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP), released this Friday (25).

Regular gasoline had a retraction of 0.7% in the value of the liter, reaching R$ 7,210. Diesel was 1.3% cheaper than the previous week, costing R$ 6,564.

Additive gasoline and S-10 diesel also had a retraction in the average price found at gas stations. The drops were, respectively, 0.7% and 1.1%.

All other fuels, LPG, CNG and ethanol, showed an increase. Natural gas for vehicles reached R$ 4,750. A liter of ethanol costs R$ 4,952.

The one that had the biggest increase was liquefied gas, which registered an average price of R$ 113.24 compared to R$ 112.54 in the last release.

Last week, all fuels recorded a rise due to the adjustment by Petrobras. The company announced, at the beginning of the month, an increase of 18% for gasoline and 25% for diesel.

Cooking gas went from R$3.86 to R$4.48 per kg, equivalent to R$58.21 per 13kg, reflecting an average adjustment of R$0.62 per kg.

On the same day as Petrobras’ announcement, President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) sanctioned the Complementary Law Project (PLP) that provides for the single collection of the Tax on the Circulation of Goods and Services (ICMS) on fuels, including imported ones. The ‘single ICMS’ will also be extended to natural gas and jet fuel.

On Wednesday (23), the Brazilian government announced that it will increase oil production by around 10% to try to help stabilize the international oil market. Brazil must, according to the Minister of Mines and Energy, Bento Albuquerque, increase production by around 300,000 barrels of oil per day.

The following day, the director general of the ANP, Rodolfo Henrique Saboia, did not guarantee that the increase in production will directly impact fuel prices in the country.
