Afghanistan: Putin, Erdogan agree to fight terrorism, drugs

The presidents of Russia Vladimir Putin and Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan discussed today, during a telephone conversation, the urgent need to fight terrorism and tackle drug trafficking in Afghanistan and agreed to cooperate on these issues, it became known by the Kremlin.

“The two sides discussed in detail the situation in Afghanistan. They stressed the importance of ensuring stability and peace in the country, strict observance of law and order and the rule of law. They also stressed that the fight against terrorism and drug trafficking should be given priority. “The presidents agreed to strengthen bilateral coordination on Afghan issues,” the statement said.

The two leaders also spoke about trade and economic co-operation, primarily in the energy sector.
