Finally summer… That season of the year when you enjoy the sea, the open air, you discover yourself and maybe you realize something that we have neglected. So here it is the irresistible urge to run for coverquickly, whatever it takes.
In terms of aesthetic medicine, however, there are times and moments to be respected. What we would like to do is not always suitable for a particular time of year such as summer. Particularly because the skin on the face and body is thick exposed to sunlight which, in addition to the many benefits, also involve risks, especially in the post-aesthetic treatment phase.
The sun, as well as excessive heat, can indeed compromise the result, but also aggravate the problem to be solved. Some aesthetic medicine interventions can leave small scars and the rule suggests avoiding exposure to sunlight as these are more prone to irritation and infections.
To understand what is better to postpone in autumn and what has the go-ahead even in the hottest months, we consulted the doctor. Elena Vescovi, Aesthetic Doctor partner of Endosphères.
Doctor, what are the most requested aesthetic treatments in the summer (by men and women)?
«The most popular are always facial treatments such as botulinum toxin and all the therapies that can be performed with it, both as regards the problem linked to wrinkling and for hyperhidrosis, a condition in which excessive sweating often occurs in the axillary region, but also in other areas of the body.
This is accompanied by therapies based on hyaluronic acid which in all these years we have seen evolve both from a rheological and technical point of view, and precisely as a setting of a treatment plan.
With patients we no longer talk about fillers as a correction of a single wrinkle but rather how approach full face which has precisely the purpose and objective of harmonizing the lines of the face, making them more elegant, without changing connotations or creating caricatures of the faces themselves “.
Which ones can be done regardless of the season and therefore also in summer?
«In this period, but already starting from February / March, both injective and non-injective body treatments are the masters. Among the latter in my studio it certainly has a preponderant role L’Endosphéres, a body remodeling medical device which has now come to a further evolution, theEvolution, which provides an innovative system for the abdomen and a refinement of the method. The device has more and more sensitivity and therefore the possibility for the operator to control and manage patient-by-patient treatments. This method has the advantage of not to cause bruising, vascular damage, not to be painful but pleasant. In particular, in this latest version and since the advent of silicone spheres it is also particularly suitable for patients with fibromyalgia and allows us to perform cycles that in the long term have proved useful in reducing the symptoms of the underlying disease.
The Endosphères allows the doctor to do it one use 12 months a year and the patient to obtain a total body remodeling going to work more in the areas where there is greater need, even after weight loss and births.
Excellent results for lymphedema and forms of water retention already after the first sessions and in many cases the patients continue to repeat this treatment throughout the year. Ideal for women, it is also a welcome treatment for men, as evidenced Filippo Magnini, who uses it for athletic training and muscle recovery.
There are many methods that I combine with this, even in summer, and among these the latest arrival: the body sculpting, for the toning of specific districts together with the historical one radio frequency, always valid for face and body laxity in every season ».
What are the beauty treatments that are better to postpone to autumn?
«The treatments that certainly cannot be performed in the summer, as all the guidelines underline and reiterate, are for example those who make use of the use of surgical lasers such as the laser CO2 or vascular lasers, those used for telangiectasias (capillaries) of the face and lower limbs, because in this period of the year they are certainly subject to dilation and therefore it would not be therapeutic in any case to intervene, but it is also very high the risk of spots after sclerotherapy (matting post sclero). These are treatments that I suspend in my studies on April 30th and resume on October 15th. With medium peels for spots I behave perfectly the same way. Even body therapies subject to bruising obviously run the risk of developing spots, so they should only be performed on very well-selected patients who do not expose themselves to direct sun ».
If the beauty treatment you want to undergo is not recommended in the summer or you don’t have time to book it, you can always opt, in the meantime, to cosmetics and home treatments to take even on vacation that can alleviate the imperfection that afflicts you.
