Fast, automated and with a VIP area for passengers. The Doha Metro is one of the most advanced transport systems ever built and promises to revolutionize transport in Qatar.
The trains, which have been in operation since 2019, were specially designed to serve the thousands of fans who will watch the World Cup games. The first phase of the project has three lines and 37 stations and provides access to a 76-kilometer network.
The trains have the capacity to transport more than 400 passengers and can reach a speed of 100 kilometers per hour.
The system directly links Hamad International Airport to five of the eight stadiums that will host World Cup matches. During the tournament, the metro will increase operations and will offer 110 trains instead of the usual 75.
The price of tickets can vary between 2 and 10 Qatari Rials, the currency of Qatar. This amounts to about R$3 to almost R$15. The lines should run for around 21 hours a day and the trains will stop every 3 minutes.
