“Adolescence” series is inspiration for the prosecutor’s project in RS

THE Public Prosecution Service of Rio Grande do Sul (MPRS) presented, this Monday (31), in Porto Alegre the results of Signs Project which monitors radicalized teenagers or in risk . The project has been inspired by the repercussion of Netflix’s “Adolescence” series, which addresses the theme.

Attorney Fabio Costa Pereira, coordinator of the Prevention Center for Extreme violence and from Signs Project pointed out the difficulty in understanding the impact of social media in the formation of young people.

“The series addresses, for example, bullying and the incel movement, which propagates hate against women, and how these online communities are dangerous for teenagers in formation. And in virtually all cases monitored by MPRS, some factors repeat themselves, among them, that parents do not know what their children consume in the digital world and that teenagers are bullied victims,” ​​explains Pereira.

During a seminar promoted by MPRS, most monitored cases show that parents are unaware of the content consumed by their children in the digital environment, and that teenagers are victims of bullying .

“Our mindset to see this problem has to be completely modified, because a lot of people think this only occurs in large centers, but we have already monitored cases in city of four thousand inhabitants. Radicalism has no borders,” he said Wedge.
