British actor Gary Oldman, 65, who played Sirius Black in the “Harry Potter” films, said the franchise saved his life as a solo father of two children.
Divorced since 2001, Oldman explained that he is grateful to films because, with them, he could “do less work with more money and then be home with the kids”, being able to refuse other work. “Thank God for Harry Potter.”
“At 42, I woke up divorced and had custody of the boys, and that was difficult because there was a change in the industry, in which many productions were being [filmadas] in Hungary, Budapest, Prague, Australia, all these places”, he added.
The location changes he referred to were due to tax reasons for filming.
The statement was made during this Thursday’s episode (14) of the channel The Drew Barrymore Showwith an interview panel presented by American actress Drew Barrymore.
Oldman debuted in the saga in the film “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban”, in 2004, and appeared again in the other two films in the sequence, until his character’s death.
