Aaron Beck, the pioneer of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), died at age 100 at his home in Philadelphia, USA. CBT, which is used to treat depression, psychiatric problems and psychological disorders, is a psychological treatment that focuses on changing specific behaviors and thought processes.
Beck is credited with changing the field of mental health through his development of cognitive therapy, which he developed while working as a psychiatrist at the University of Pennsylvania in the United States, according to a statement from the Beck Institute for Cognitive Behavior Therapy.
Beck passed away peacefully at his home, his daughter said in a statement released on Monday (1).
“My father has dedicated his life to developing and testing treatments to improve the lives of countless people around the world who face mental health and health challenges,” said his daughter, Judith Beck, who was co-founder of the Beck Institute for Behavior Therapy Cognitive with her father said in a statement.
