By Niki Zorba
From Peristeri, at the pre-election event of SYRIZA, Alexis Tsipras, may have attacked the Prime Minister and the Government of the National Democratic Republic with the well-known ferocity, but he reserved more messages for the president of the neighboring party, Nikos Androulakis, throwing at him again great pressure in fact, the gauntlet for PASOK’s stance, the next day:
To clarify his position, no one was glorified in hiding, to clarify that he will not cooperate with Kyriakos Mitsotakis’ ND and with whom he will form a social democratic government like the one he promises, were grosso modo the questions he addressed to the president of PASOK, in no uncertain terms and persistent.
At the same time, however, Mr. Tsipras, commenting on the Prime Minister’s assurances that there will be no early elections in the Autumn, did not limit himself to scathing comments that he was canceling them because “it is collapsing” but chose to entertain and suspicions that in fact SYRIZA is served by the exhaustion of the four-year term by the current government.
“I also want to answer some people who tell us:
But it is convenient for you that the elections take place a few months later, because the decay of the ND will grow. And let everyone put that in their minds.
We love responsibility, as Kazantzakis used to say.
We were never afraid of her”, is his characteristic disgust, while he essentially announced the “cinematic SYRIZA” that will face the Government:
“The answer is action not patience. Therefore, it is our duty in the next period to be with all our strength in every battle against the unjust”.
Summarizing his speech, Mr. Tsipras said about:
SYRIZA
SYRIZA Progressive Alliance, after its 3rd Congress and the electoral process of May 15, is not just another party. Be bigger.
It’s another party.
Our congress, the process for the election of the Central Committee and the President, the enormous response that our initiatives found in the democratic world, left an indelible mark on SYRIZA.
Whenever polls are held, SYRIZA will be the first party and by a margin
I also want to answer some people who tell us:
But it is convenient for you that the elections take place a few months later, because the decay of the ND will grow. And let everyone put that in their minds.
We love responsibility, as Kazantzakis used to say.
We were never afraid of her.
We will not be patient. Patience is not the answer to punctuality, insecurity, labor exploitation, energy poverty. The answer is action not patience. Therefore, it is our duty in the next period to be with all our strength in every battle against the unjust.
We are not selling you socialism but that we will stop barbarism.
K. Mitsotakis
Mr. Mitsotakis proved to have the ability to surprise Greeks more and more unpleasantly.
During the three years of his administration, he proved to be a politician not only attached to interests,
in methods of nepotism and bribery,
but also completely irresponsible, frivolous, unreliable.
The latest example of his unreliability and dangerous frivolity is his dalliances with the early elections.
He opened the issue himself.
He himself announced his party’s candidacies from time to time.
He himself allowed leaks with dates and election strategies.
And then he announced that early elections are not a nationally responsible choice. She was nationally responsible when she thought it suited him.
She became nationally irresponsible when she realized she was not comfortable with him. The truth is that he does not dare to go to elections because he is collapsing.
Government
We have the worst government at the worst time for the country. A government of cooperation with the big interests.
A government that, despite the fact that it has neither memorandums nor budgetary restrictions, has multiplied the consequences of the crisis for the large majority and the profits for the small minority.
Ten large business groups and three large funds.
And of course for the hundreds of blue golden boys.
He cares about them and their interests.
Partnerships
As far as we are concerned, we will continue to appeal to the base of programmatic positions, a call to all progressive forces, for a government of cooperation that can emerge from the Simple Proportional ballot box. It is enough that in this ballot box, SYRIZA PS is first and by a large margin from the ND of Mr. Mitsotakis. And he will be first by a wide margin. No one will be able to continue to question this.
PASOK – N. Androulakis
I explained why we have chosen to fight one-sidedly against the Right of Mr. Mitsotakis.
No, because we don’t have differences and questions against the other forces of the Left and the Center.
In particular, against KINAL, which was fully identified with the Right in the cover-up of the Novartis scandal and in the construction of guilty and alleged masterminds.
And which certainly deserves an answer and a self-criticism after the latest developments.
But I did not choose and we will not choose to face each other, because we know that always, throughout its journey, the Democratic and Progressive party in the country had only one opponent: The Right and its policies.
However, I addressed a question to the Parliament and I still haven’t received an answer:
How is it possible that some people tell us that they want a progressive and even social democratic government and at the same time leave open the possibility of cooperating post-election with Mr. Mitsotakis’ ND?
Who are the social democrats who will form this social democratic government? Mitsotakis? Voridis, Pleuris and Adonis? Who;
We did not get an answer, but Mr. Androulakis cannot hide until he goes to the ballot box. No one was glorified in secret. If he wants to have basic credibility in what he says, he must clarify his intentions directly and without half-heartedness.
If he intends to make the party the crutch of the Right again, as Mr. Venizelos did the party of Mr. Samaras, let him not answer. Otherwise, he must exclude from now and clearly, any prospect of post-election cooperation with the ND and Mr. Mitsotakis.
Young people
What young men and women claim today are our claims at the same time. Good schools – with strong baccalaureates that deliver education and knowledge, not test-producing machines and blood donors of every dodgy college. Good universities – with serious infrastructure, adequately staffed with professors, not police officers.
Rights at work, decent wages and hours.
And not to work in factories, for menial wages, undeclared, without insurance, with flexible hours and without any prospects.
Right to a roof – with a national strategy as we described last week for those who want to live alone or with their partner, but the high rents, the cost of living and the chaos of Airbnb are throwing them out.
Novartis
There is no skeworia.
There is only the scandal. This is the irrevocable will of the Judicial Council. There is the scandal that calls for answers. Who was funded?
Who blackmailed and threatened the witnesses?
Who and why prevented the judges from awarding justice? And it is our commitment to provide answers to these questions.
Uber
It saw the light of day yesterday in all the international media, which present it on their front pages except for those of the country, information 108, which hide it, a great global financial scandal.
How the multinational company Uber made ministers and governments partners with the compensation to expand throughout Europe. Do you really remember at all the orgy of slander and misinformation that we lived through to impose on the SYRIZA government at the time, the infamous Uber?
May I remind you what Mr. Mitsotakis and a number of ND executives were saying then?
How were we accused of being unfriendly to investment?
Seven engagements
1. A strong role of the state, as a bulwark against energy poverty and with a series of measures to effectively curb the accuracy. With a strong and regulatory role of the state in the market so as to put a barrier to profiteering.
With a drastic reduction in electricity bills, with a ceiling on the wholesale price, but also on the retail price if necessary.
By reducing the VAT on basic necessities and the VAT to the lowest European limits, as a number of European countries have done.
2. The minimum wage will increase to 800 euros.
The entire protection framework that was removed by the Mitsotakis government will be reinstated
The eight-hour workday, collective bargaining, justified dismissal, and the Labor Inspection will return. Gradual implementation of the 35-hour working day without a reduction in wages.
3. Repeal bankruptcy law and restore primary home protection.
Immediate settlement of debts incurred during the pandemic and in particular for SMEs. By writing off part of their nominal value and at least 120 installments for the rest.
4. New NHS, fully staffed with the necessary recruitments and infrastructure investments. With well-paid doctors and by doubling the primary health structures, so that from the 127 that we founded and are operating today, we can go to 380 throughout the country.
5. The nearly 1 billion a year that the government deprived pensioners in order to cover the black hole of the privatization of supplementary insurance, will be returned to them. End of the supplemental insurance gamble.
6. Strengthening Public education, upgrading the role of the high school, with an increase in the budget for public Universities, with the abolition of the minimum admission base, recruitment of teaching and administrative staff, with the recruitment of teachers and not police officers in universities.
7. Ensuring young people’s right to housing.
Doubling housing benefit to €350 per month for 150,000 new couples, young people, new households, aged 25 to 44. Short-term rental rules. Creation of a Housing Bank, in order to have the possibility of affordable housing, for thousands of fellow citizens.
