A Sri Lankan court has seized an Airbus A330 aircraft belonging to the Russian airline Aeroflot and barred it from leaving the country until at least June 16.
The decision was made at the request of the Irish leasing company Celestial Aviation Trading Limited.
The Aeroflot website reports that the flight from Colombo to Moscow has been canceled. It was originally scheduled for the morning of June 2, but was later postponed to the next day, according to the Russian airline’s website.
According to Airfleets, the seized Aeroflot aircraft was registered in the Russian aircraft register at the end of April after Western sanctions were imposed, while it had previously been registered in Bermuda.
