This week was marked by the launch of the 5G network in three regions: Belo Horizonte, João Pessoa and Porto Alegre, all on Friday (29). However, Eduardo Tude, president of the consultancy Teleco, stated, in an interview with CNN that the technology should be released throughout Brazil in just four years.
That’s because “5G is not a ready-made zero kilometer car that you pick up and use”. That is, it is necessary to do frequency tests, because the 3.5 Ghz band is also used by several Brazilians who have a satellite dish.
To this end, Anatel created a program to distribute, free of charge, to needy families in Brazilian capitals, registered in the Single Registry for Social Programs of the federal government, and which use satellite dishes of the so-called Band C, kits containing new digital antennas, converters and cables .
Ordering the kit and installing the devices can be done through the Kit Distribution Program website.

In any case, the specialist also states that, although some capitals already have this network – Brasília was the first region of the country to have the technology -, not all neighborhoods have access. Thus, “as a person moves around, he will vary between 5G and 4G”.
The distribution of the connection depends on the operators. So, even if a person has the device, they may not be able to connect to the track.
According to Anatel, “each provider has its own network deployment and expansion strategy. Thus, it is natural that, at this initial moment, not all operators serve all neighborhoods and regions”.
The agency recommends that people contact operators to find out if a particular location will have the network available.
