The list with 50 best bars in the world of 2024 was revealed this Tuesday (22) and only one Brazilian address appears in the ranking. And the Tan Tan in Pinheiros, São Paulo. The relationship was announced at an event in Madrid, Spain, by The World’s 50 Best Bars, an annual ranking that chooses the best bars in the world.
THE Tan Tan appears in 31st position – last year, the bar in Pinheiros had appeared in 56th place on the extended list. Led by Thiago Bañares the bar completed nine years in 2024 and appears as a staple on lists of the best bars in the world in previous years.
Since March, the “Back to basics” menu has been running in the house, with 14 drinks, divided into five families, with the aim of making experts and non-experts alike able to explore cocktails without difficulties.
“This is a position that brings us a lot of responsibility, because in addition to representing recognition of our concept, it makes us representatives of our country”, says Bañares in a statement.
The 10 best bars in the world
THE best bar in the world this year is the Speakeasy Handshake in Mexico City. It was also considered the Best Bar in North America. According to the awards, the secret bar in the Colonia Juarez area is difficult to find, but those who sit at the counter “are rewarded with a stellar experience.”
In vice-leadership appears the Bar Leone which also won awards for Best Bar in Asia and the highest new entry on the current list. The bar works with classic cocktails and honors Italy, with old football shirts and photos of icons from the country of the boot hanging in the room.
THE Sips in Barcelona, came in 3rd place, and in 2023 he had achieved the position of best in the world.

In addition to Tres Monos, Alquímica and Tan Tan, South America stood out with four other bars on the list. They are: Lady Bee in Lima (16th place); CoChinChina in Buenos Aires (22nd); Laura’s room in Bogotá (44th); Floreria Atlántico in Buenos Aires (46th)

Special prizes
The night was also filled with special decorations. The award for One to Watch which points to a bar that has stood out on the world cocktail scene and that has the potential to appear on the official list in the following years, went to the Cat Bite Club in Singapore.
Previously announced, the award for Art of Hospitality went to Caretaker’s Cottage, in Melbourne, Australia. The bar is described by the organization as unpretentious and community-building, designed to keep customers coming back for new discoveries or to rediscover classics. He appeared this year in 21st place in the ranking.
The bar chosen as “list legend “, which has appeared in the ranking consistently since 2016, was the Floreria Atlántico in Buenos Aires. The bar is one of the busiest in the Buenos Aires capital and is hidden behind a flower shop.
The title of “bartender’s bartender “, a category exclusively voted on by professional colleagues, went to Iain McPherson the name behind Panda & Sons, a bar in Edinburgh, Scotland. The professional was described by the organization as a “prolific innovator of Scottish cocktails”, who turns the bar into a true laboratory.
THE best design for a bar went to the Himkok in Oslo, Norway, which also functions as a distillery and has a decor inspired by New York speakeasies from the 1930s. The bar was in 11th place on the list this year.

The honor of Industry Icon It was delivered to Monica Berg, bartender and entrepreneur behind the London bar Tayēr + Elementary, which is among the top five bars in the world this year.

Extended list

At the beginning of the month, the extended list of the best bars in the world between positions 51 and 100 was released. No bar in Brazil appears in the list, which brings together addresses from 35 cities around the world.
Europe leads the way with 18 bars, followed by America, with 14. Asia has 13 addresses; Australia and Africa have two representatives each and the United Arab Emirates has just one. Check out all the highlights from the extended list in this article.
The list of the best bars in the world has been published since 2009 and compiled by votes from around 700 experts in the field, including bartenders, consultants, journalists and cocktail experts from around the world.
Each member is entitled to eight votes based on experience over the past 18 months. Voters remain anonymous and the process is confidential – voters cannot elect their own bars and must have no financial interest behind the list.
