The huge demand for fully wireless earbuds (TWS) that has been seen in recent years is expected to continue this year.
According to the latest forecast report from Counterpoint Research, in 2021, sales of fully wireless headphones will reach 310 million units. That’s 33% more than 233 million headphones sold in 2020. Apple, Xiaomi and Samsung are expected to remain the top three players in this market.
Despite the ongoing pandemic and consumer spending cuts, global TWS headphone shipments grew 78% last year. TWS earbuds have remained among the most sought-after tech products over the past year, with the largest growth seen in low to mid-range offerings.

Apple continued to dominate last year and is expected to re-capture most shipments with a market share of roughly 27%. Xiaomi is expected to remain in second place with 9% of the market, while Samsung is likely to round out the top three with 7% market share.
The third quarter is expected to be the peak time for the fully wireless headphone market.
