26.9 BTC was sent to Satoshi Nakamoto’s wallet

January 5 unknown user sent 26.91 BTC (almost $1.2 million at the exchange rate at the time of writing) to the wallet of Bitcoin creator Satoshi Nakamoto.

The sender's address was replenished from three sources, writes The Block. Most of the funds came from a wallet flagged on the Arkham Intelligence platform as belonging to Binance.

At the time of writing, the Genesis wallet holds 99.67 BTC, worth approximately $4.4 million. The assets stored in it have not been moved since the disappearance of the creator of Bitcoin in December 2010.

“Either Satoshi woke up, bought 27 BTC on Binance and transferred it to his wallet, or someone just burned a million dollars,” wrote Coinbase CEO Conor Grogan.

He also admitted that there was “bizarre marketing” surrounding the potential approval of a spot Bitcoin ETF.
