1st Japanese Gastronomy Week arrives in SP with dinners and ramen festival

Between October 25th and November 1st, the capital of São Paulo welcomes Japanese cuisine week the first event of its kind in São Paulo promoted by the Brazilian Association of Japanese Gastronomy (ABGJ).

Tastings, dinners, lectures, trade fair and masterclass fill the program during the seven days of the occasion.

According to Marcelo Shiraishi, president of the association, the objective of the Japanese Gastronomy Week is to strengthen the segment of bars and restaurants, which “was one of the businesses that suffered the most in the pandemic”.

The opening on the 25th is exclusive to associates, entrepreneurs and professionals in the sector. The following day, Wednesday (26), is marked by a schedule of chat and ramen festival at Japan House in the middle of Avenida Paulista.

Passwords must be distributed free of charge from 2:30 pm for a conversation that brings together Jo Takahashi, Breno Lerner, Simone Xirata and Rafael Salvador on the theme “The universe of the ramen bowl”.

From 7pm, the cultural institution promotes the Ramen Matsuri festival with different types of ramen with the participation of the restaurants Hidden by 2nd Floor , Hirá Ramen Izakaya , Jojo Ramen , Lamen Kazu and Tamashii Ramen .

Visitors are welcomed on the second floor of the Japanese institution with the booth of each house. Spaces are limited and tickets They cost R$180, including tastings of five types of ramen and a drink.

The business fair and the series of lectures will also take place on the 27th at Japan House, a place that still receives the Kaiseki dinner on the 28th.

The dinner is a posthumous tribute to the master of Japanese cuisine Massanobu Haraguchi that gathers Telma Shiraishi (from Aizomé), Marcelo Correa Bastos (Jikitaia), Uilian Goya (Goya Sushi), Leo Yuto Sato (Kidoairaku) and the patissière chef Saiko Izawa for a six-step menu paired with selected beverages. Tickets cost R$ 615 and must be purchased at site.

Aimed at professionals, a masterclass with the mixologist Rogerio Igarashi takes care of the event on the 29th. On the same day, in the evening, the Tantan Noodle Bar it is a place for the presentation of cocktail trends.

Sunday 30th is the day of the Izakaya Matsuri a festival that brings together several izakayas at the headquarters of the Brazilian Society of Japanese Culture and Social Assistance, in Liberdade, to offer popular snacks from Japanese bars.

The participation of houses such as Imai Izakaya , kinboshi , yakitori , Quito Quito , Kintaro + Donchan , Name Izakaya , Yoshi Izakaya , Sakaba omoid , Izakaya Pitch , The Oriental Izakaya , Koya 88 and Asian icon.

The program ends on Tuesday (1) with dinner that brings together itamaes (sushi chefs) consecrated, such as Jun Sakamoto , Edson Yamashita and Nobu Mizumoto at Japan House’s Aizomê.

Ramen Nights at Japan House

In addition to the week promoted by the Brazilian Association of Japanese Gastronomy, Japan House continues its cultural and gastronomic program with Ramen nights .

Over the course of six weeks, starting on November 22, Aizomê welcomes the restaurants Hidden by 2nd Floor, Hirá Ramen Izakaya, Jojo Ramen, Lámen Kazu, Tamashii Ramen, Tonkotsu Barikote Ramen Maru to present recipes from different parts of Japan.

The nights take place on Tuesdays and Wednesdays (except for the month of December) until February 1st and function as parallel activities to the exhibition “The Art of Ramen Donburi ”, which takes place from October 18 to February 5, 2023 on the ground floor of Japan House.

The exhibition focuses on the phenomenon of ramen from donburis, the bowls of Japanese cuisine, in which it brings objects decorated by several Japanese artists to the capital of São Paulo, as well as presents the main ceramic region of Japan, the Ceramic Valley of Mino. , responsible for producing nearly 90% of the country’s ramen bowls.

Tickets for Ramen Nights cost R$130 and include an entrance, dish and drink, as well as a guided tour of the exhibition. Check dates and times on site.
