10 million Dacia cars produced: most popular models named

The gray Dacia Duster crossover was the 10 million anniversary Dacia car that rolled off the assembly line of the head plant in Romania. It took Dacia 54 years to produce so many cars.

Dacia was created with the support of Renault, and the first enterprise was launched in 1968. The first produced model was the rear-engined sedan Dacia 1100 (a copy of the Renault 8 model), and in 1969 the production of the front-wheel drive Dacia 1300 family (based on the Renault 12) began. Cars under two brands were simultaneously presented in France and Romania.

In the 1980s, cooperation with Renault was completed, after which Dacia itself produced new models. In 1999, Renault bought the Romanian company, and in 2004 Logan appeared and the modern history of the Dacia brand began.

Dacia products are now sold in 44 countries around the world, cars are produced in Romania, Morocco, Algeria and China. In many countries of the world, Dacia models are sold under the Renault brand (and in Russia there is Lada Largus), but they are not included in these 10 million units.

The best-selling model is the Dacia Sandero with 2.6 million units across three generations, including the Stepway versions. Second place is held by the Dacia 1300: 2.3 million vehicles in 34 years of production. Duster and Logan are next with sales of 2.1 million and 1.95 million units.
